You can also apply or sponsor your common-law or conjugal partner who is from another country. Common law or conjugal partners are those who must have spent at least one year of married life.
A Permanent resident can sponsor their children who live in another country for any reason. However, a child must have below 18 years. He or she will be able to read in Canada for an indefinite period.

Basic rules and regulations or eligibility criteria for the family sponsorship
There are a bunch of rules and regulations or eligibility criteria that you must have to follow before sponsoring your family otherwise your application can be rejected
- In every sponsorship program, A PR has to provide the necessary proof of their permanent residence.
- The person who is sponsoring his/her family member has to be at least 18 years old
- The PR has to give proof of the relationship of sponsored people with PR.
- In the case of dependent or minor children's sponsorship, children must not be more than 22 years old and married.
- The PR must have to submit his/her financial proof that he/she can fulfil the basic needs of a sponsored family member.
- The sponsored person must have 18 years old
- In terms of spousal sponsorship, A PR has to submit a legal document that demonstrates or proves that the sponsored person is really a spouse of the PR.
- There must not be any criminal records of the sponsored person abroad
- In the common-law or conjugal marriage, partners must spend at least 1 year of their married life. However, in spousal sponsorship, you can sponsor your partner immediately after the marriage.
